Training to Teach
PGCE
Patchway regularly takes one year PGCE trainees from local universities, including UWE and Bristol.
Trainees come on both short and longer term placements.
Most curriculum areas have at least one PGCE trainee attached to them at some point during the academic year.
Each trainee has a trained subject mentor, who is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day programme within the curriculum area
We also have a trained and experienced Senior Professional Tutor, who is responsible for coordinating and assuring the consistency of the provision for all PGCE trainees.
GTP
Patchway also accepts a few colleagues each year who wish to train within the college through the Graduate Teacher Programme.
Competition for these places is fierce and expressions of interest are needed by February in order to be considered at all for the following September.
We can usually only consider applications for places in shortage subjects that carry a government funded salary grant
We work closely with Bath University and the University of Gloucestershire in the delivery of GTP
