Year 7 students identified as being behind expectations in literacy or numeracy receive support to help them catch up. For some identified students support is provided in Year 8. The students receive 1 to 1 support from a specialist teacher for a time limited period. Monitoring shows that students receiving this support make improved progress within English and maths as a result of this intervention. The students in receipt of this support also recognise that they have more opportunities to use and develop their literacy skills across subjects.
