Post 16 > Extra Curricular

In Year 12, Wednesday afternoons on the timetable are given over to enrichment: a time to develop personal skills, follow up new areas of interest or even gain an additional qualification. There is a wealth of choice, no matter what your interests! Just some of the exciting opportunities on offer include:

Sports Leadership Award
Public Speaking
Young Enterprise
Peer Counselling
Charity fundraising
Drama Production Group
Extended Projects
Photography GCSE
Work Experience in a local primary school or nursery
Participation in playing sports
Supporting the work of students in the lower school
…and many more!

Trips:

We are very proud of our record of Student Centre trips abroad and over the years hundreds of students have enjoyed a February half-term visit to fantastic locations such as Rome, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, New Hampshire (Skiing). We also offer regular residential team-building trips to Parkend (in the Forest of Dean).

There are many fieldtrips and day visits and revision conferences offered by the post-16 curriculum areas to support your learning – in fact there is never a dull moment!

Officers:

Our team of elected Officers are at the heart of the Student Centre. They lead the way in charity fundraising, stocking and running the tuckshop, organising the annual Summer Prom and running regular social events and the infamous parties! The students have their own bank account which is managed democratically by the Officers, as are the spending decisions. Minutes of meetings are displayed publically for all students to view. Experience has taught us that the quality of the student experience is directly related to the hard work that the officers put in, and we are very grateful that each year such dedicated students put themselves forward to stand in the elections.
