The sun shone for the Fusion Festival on 13th July, much against expectations and the forecast, and unusually for 2012 – we had a festival without any mud!  Performances from local primary schools, local bands and an official Olympic float sparkled in the sunshine and the audience were able to wander around the many stalls, including a creative stall run by Patchway’s DT department.  Six windsocks, designed by pupils at Coniston Primary School, Charborough Road Primary School, Meadowbrook Primary School, Wheatfield Primary School, St Michaels Primary School and Holy Family Catholic Primary School as part of Fusion, were on display before leaving to follow the South West Battle of the Winds vehicle as part of the Gathering of the Winds event opening the Olympic Sailing at Weymouth. Eight of our Post 16 students will be travelling with the wind socks to be part of the celebration and procession. The fantastic story book produced by storyteller Martin Maudlsey and illustrator Matthew Jeanes together with 8 local primaries including St Chads C of E Primary School and Callicroft Primary School was also on display.  The big boards showing the book’s illustrations will now be moving to Weymouth to be part of the VIP area at the Olympic sailing – and will hopefully be a good omen for the winds there! Many thanks to Sherie Humphreys for her incredible organisation of this event – and also to the team of Post 16 students who were an amazing team working at a highly professional level throughout.  Thanks again go to all of the many other people who were involved in staging the festival and thank you also to everyone for coming
