Support and Guidance
As Senior Students, we pledge to you our full support and you will:
- Be a member of a tutorial group with an experienced, specialist post-16 tutor
- Receive personal and individual attention
- Be given effective guidance on managing your time and effective study skills
- Be guided in choosing and making applications for employment, further education and higher education
- Be given full support in the production of a Personal Statement and Portfolio to take with you on your next step.
A full tutorial programme covers action planning and skills for lifelong learning. Senior students are very much involved in the organisation of these days. Our HE tutorial programme is accredited by UWE as part of the “Heading Higher Passport Scheme”, and successful completion of the programme is worth 70 UCAS points.

Preparation for the Future:
Our extensive programme allows students to build on personal and interpersonal skills. Our goal is to help you make decisions wisely, and working alongside Connexions we cater for a wide range of circumstances and aspirations. Advice sessions and tutorials inform our students about further education, vocational courses and applications to university. All students receive individual guidance whatever their proposed destination.
Our Business and Enterprise status has allowed us to forge further links with industry, building on our traditional working relationships with local businesses, Aztec West and Cribbs Causeway. All students are encouraged to arrange events which involve external agencies to support their academic work and personal development.

EMA:
Like any post-16 institution, under the EMA scheme you could be eligible for a payment of up to £30 per week, direct into your bank account. There are also two £100 bonus payments per year for meeting your targets. This is a significant addition to supporting students through their post-16 studies. At Patchway you will receive weekly EMA printed receipts, as well as guidance and full information relating to claiming the bonus payments. See www.ema.direct.gov.uk for more details of this scheme. |
