School Library

Our school library has a large catalogue of fiction and non-fiction books for all ages along with a range of newspapers and magazines. It is a comfortable yet vibrant study space both during and outside of lessons, where students can browse for books or use the computers. With a library pass, students can come into the library at break and lunchtime to use all the resources.

Regular Library Events
Prep at the Patch
Every Monday to Thursday the Library hosts ‘Prep at the Patch’ where Year 7s can dedicate an hour to their homework.

Film Club
Every other week we have a film club on Thursday and Friday lunch times.

Swap Box
We have a swap box where students and staff can swap their own books from home for something different to read.

Writing Competitions
We advertise a variety of writing competitions such as our Valentine’s Day Poetry Competition and Radio 2’s ‘500 Words’ where we encourage and support our students with their applications.

Other Library News
We actively encourage students to take on some of the duties in the day to day running of the library and we currently have a group of Year 8 students who have become library monitors. They have been given training on how the books are organised and how the computer system works.

The school has recently entered into the Time4Reading scheme and are proud to say that we have now achieved our bronze award.

This means that we have completed criteria designed to promote reading and use of the library.A reading group has been taking part in the Concorde Book Award by reading the shortlisted books and voting for their favourite on World Book Day.

We will be attending the ceremony for the winner at the Bristol and Bath Science Park.We are hoping to host some exciting events in the future, including a visit from an author.

Further details will be available on our Events page.

Miss Manning is our school librarian and is always happy to help.
